If you’re seeking to lose fat, pill popping, even if taken excessively and aggressively is not going to be enough.
There just aren’t any secure, natural “fat burning” substances powerful enough to, all on their own, cause substantial weight reduction.
Now the good news:
If you know how to drive fat loss with proper dieting and exercise, certain supplements can accelerate the process.
Leptigen is supposedly a nutritional supplement that again claims that it can help you experience safe, effective weight loss. How?
By having a proprietary blend of clinically researched ingredients that help your body release and burn stored fat, causing increased energy levels, boosted metabolism, and more calories burned. Thus, you can expect to really feel energized with more mental clarity.
All you need to do is take two capsules of Leptigen per day at least 30 minutes before meals, and its “highly effective” weight loss formula will start working.
“Yet another weight loss pill,” you’re thinking to yourself. “Lots of big claims and little real-world results.”
To be honest, Leptigen contains some powerful ingredients, and so does Phen375. But, both these products are only supposed to complement your overall weight loss program. They are not magic bullets.

What is garcinia cambogia, though, and does it actually help you lose fat?
There’s absolutely no clinical proof showing that it (or sphaeranthus indicus) can provide any kind of weight loss benefits in humans. Rather, much of the existing research was conducted in a Petri dish or rats.
When it comes to Meratrim specifically, the Leptigen website references a 2013 study published in the Journal of Medicinal Food that found it, “in combination with a standard diet (2000 kcal/day) and moderate daily exercise, produces a clinically significant incremental reduction in body weight, waist, and hip circumference compared with diet management and exercise alone.”
In particular, individuals who took Meratrim managed to lose an average of 11 pounds, while the placebo group only lost about two pounds.
Although this definitely seems promising, it doesn’t appear that the manufacturer’s study has been peer evaluated, or that the results have been duplicated in subsequent studies.
Another InterHealth product, ChromeMate “is a niacin-bound chromium called chromium polynicotinate or chromium nicotinate” that “may help increase the effectiveness of chromium, an essential trace mineral that may help support blood sugar levels already within normal range.”
Overall, chromium is a popular ingredient in most weight loss products, and often used to treat diabetes and improve weight loss results.
Also, there is some scientific proof showing that chromium may help improve weight loss results (the Leptigen website references this study from 1997), but by and large, it’s insufficient to concretely state that it works.
Green Tea Extract
Green tea is a common ingredient in herbal weight loss supplements, since it contains high Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) levels, a chemical that’s been widely studied.
Sorry to say, green tea hasn’t been clinically proven to provide any benefits, weight loss or otherwise. But, it may help boosting body’s metabolism over a period of time.
Caffeine and Fat Loss
Caffeine is present in lots of weight loss products, not just leptigen. Now, this is an interesting supplement.
After all that doom and gloom I thought we’d start on a high note, which is how many people would describe caffeine.
What many people don’t know, however, is that caffeine does a lot more than give you an energy high.
Research shows that caffeine…
- Improves strength
- Improves muscle endurance and anaerobic performance
- And last but not least, accelerates fat loss
Caffeine accomplishes this last feat by increasing the amount of catecholamines in your blood, which are chemicals that mobilize fat stores to be burned. This, in turn, raises your body’s basal metabolic rate, which is the amount of energy it burns at rest.
The more energy your body burns every day, the more fat you can lose, and that’s why caffeine is an effective fat burner.
How to Use Caffeine to Lose Fat
The general dosage of caffeine seen in weight loss studies ranges between 2 and 6 mg per kg of body weight per day.
Personally, I take about 4 mg per kg of body weight per day when dieting for fat loss.
The only downside to caffeine as a weight loss aid is it loses its effectiveness over time as you become desensitized to it.
You can mitigate this by cycling your intake, however. Personally I go without caffeine 1 to 2 days per week when using it for fat loss purposes to maximize its weight loss effects.
Another way to make caffeine more effective is to co-ingest it with other natural substances that amplify its effects.
Problems with Leptigen
Sorry, guys! Leptigen is nowhere as effective as it’s hyped up to be.
The reason for this is simple: many of the “go-to” molecules found in products like Leptigen, like garcinia cambogia, raspberry ketones, and green coffee extract, are cheap, which is great for profit margins…but not very effective (if effective at all), which is not so great for your waistline.
One big benefit of taking the right fat loss supplements is they are particularly effective for reducing stubborn fat, which is usually belly fat for us guys and hip and thigh fat for girls.
So, as you can see, even the best “stack” of fat loss supplements isn’t game changing, but I think it’s worthwhile for both the lean looking to get really lean and overweight looking to get lean.
Synephrine and Fat Loss
Synephrine is a substance found in high amounts in the bitter orange plant, which has long been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to treat various types of health disorders.
Chemically speaking, synephrine is similar to but less potent than the powerful weight loss compound ephedrine.
