Efficiency Of REDEFINE and REVERSE lineup
Considering the ingredients and analyzing the reviews from across the internet forums and review websites, we think that R&F antiaging regimen’s items have a 50-50 odds of working for you based on all reviews. Not really great!
Please feel free to go through all the collections of the user reviews on Rodan & Fields products we have put together on SkinnyandSassy.com
Rodan and Fields products are sold through independent consultants. Thoroughly inquire your skincare specialist what they think about a product you happen to be contemplating using.
However, keep in mind that Rodan and Fields advisors are NOT authorized skincare specialists.
Rodan & Fields is definitely not dangerous like Botox. It does cleaning your skin from inside out. Which is what you need – for a skin that is healthy.
That is because sun-damaged skin often has a thick, dead skin layer that when and hydroxy acids and retinoids are used, they may temporarily bring about sun sensitivity.
It’s a good idea to discontinue use and contact your healthcare professional for additional guidance if you consider your skin is sensitive to an ingredient.
If you are looking for a really good anti aging cream, we recommend LifeCell and we believe it’s a good alternative to R&F anti aging products.
LifeCell is both a quick fix and long term skin builder with repeated applications and has some unique ingredients you won’t find in R&F.
It uses light reflecting microcrystals and it comes with powerful skin collagen building components, peptides and antioxidants.
Its ingredients have been extensively studied and proven to work by respected medical departments at Yale, Harvard, Cornell, and Oxford. In addition to water-binding agents, antioxidants, and anti-irritants, LifeCell contains the following active ingredients:
- Dithiolane-3-Pentanoic Acid
- Ascorbyl Palmitate
- Deanol (DMAE): Firms sagging skin
- Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 (AH3): Blocks neurotransmitters that cause facial muscles to contract, a cheap alternative to Botox!
- Fractionated Silicon Dioxide: When processed, this ingredient turns into billions of microscopic 3D nanoprisms that refract light
1. Level one is the LifeCell “immediate effect”. Because the human eye can only just see the shadow, the ingredients in Lifecell use light-reflecting micro-technology to minimize the look of wrinkles immediately. In other words – natural light bounces off the wrinkles, thereby the shadow produced by the wrinkles is not visible, thereby cutting down the look of wrinkles.
2. And then comes the long term effect. By using Lifecell consistently you will see a considerable decrease of typical age indications -lines, sagging skin, and discoloration. This happens because over time, ingredients in LifeCell generate more collagen and help rebuild the skin structure.
With modern chemical engineering and technology, it’s possible to get the best of both the worlds – something that provides quick results as well as a longer approach to promote collagen production. In that sense, LifeCell happens to be a far superior option than instantly ageless and other argireline based quick fix creams.
This article on Skincare.net explains that the Rodan & Fields produce two kinds of products. The first kind refers to 5 different lines of skin care product “regimens” and the second kind refers to necessities and enhancements.
Each skin care regimen has multiple products, for example, The REDEFINE Regimen features four full-size products: Daily Cleansing Mask 125 mL/4.2 Fl.Oz., Pore Minimizing Toner 125 mL/4.2 Fl.Oz., Triple Defense Treatment SPF 30 30 mL/1.0 Fl.Oz., and Overnight Restorative Cream 30 mL/1.0 Fl.Oz. (Retail $193.00)
The skin care product regimens are:

A broad spectrum sunscreen SPF 50+
A dual active brightening complex

Essentials – The Essentials line contains products such as sunscreens, moisturizers, and supplements, and range in price from $8 to $25.
Most consumers want simplicity when it comes to making decisions about what skincare products they should use.
The Rodan + Fields marketing strategy is to make it simple. They eliminate the confusion about what products work together by creating streamlined, prepackaged product groups, each aimed at specific skin-care concerns.
Each product group is enclosed in a clever, take-along parcel that is the skin-care equivalent of a sack lunch. (Products are also available separately for those who want to customize their routine or add products outside the predetermined routines.)
This structured approach has merit, but, each routine has at least one questionable or lackluster formulation, or a problem with packaging.
R+F does have a few offerings that stray from the usual list of ingredients, which Dr. Schueller finds intriguing. For example, the active ingredient in the Unblemish Acne Wash is sulfur instead of the more commonly used salicylic acid.
In the Redefine Pore Minimizing Toner, you’ll find lactobionic acid and gluconolactone— two ingredients that are not used very frequently. Elsewhere in the Redefine line, you’ll see the anti-aging peptide tetrapeptide 21, a variant that’s not used as often as other peptides.
“That’s not to say that it’s clearly a better choice, but these are some interesting formulation approaches, and ones that you don’t see in common, less expensive lines,” says Schueller.
This expert article on Futurederm.com lists the best and worst products of “Rodan and Fields”. In a nutshell, here are they:-
i. Rodan + Fields SOOTHE Mineral Sunscreen
One of the best sunscreens on the market. The presence of zinc oxide as the main active ingredient provides the maximum power-punch against UVA and UVB rays, while support is provided by the addition of titanium dioxide. And Zinc Oxide is better than titanium oxide. (Skin Pharmacology and Physiology, 2005)
ii. Rodan + Fields AMP MD Microexfoliating Roller + AMP It Up Special
The Rodan + Fields Anti-Age AMP MD system features both retinol and peptides in effective concentrations, while the roller helps these ingredients penetrate the skin, where they are needed to work.
Myristoyl tetrapeptide-8 is recommended to increase collagen production and firm the skin.
iii. Rodan + Fields REDEFINE Pore-Minimizing Toner
The secret to this product is Lactobionic acid which sets itself apart by being gentler and more effective than other AHAs. It is more hydrating than glycolic acid.
In 2010, researchers in London, Serbia, and Slovenia compared the efficacy of 6% lactobionic acid and 6% glycolic acid in a gel and an emulsion. Twenty-six volunteers applied one of the four different formulations twice daily for two weeks.
The lactobionic acid was better tolerated than glycolic acid in both forms, with similar results (Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, 2010). Considering glycolic acid is proven to refine fine lines and wrinkles, hydrate the skin, and renew collagen to firm skin over time, this is an exciting finding!
In addition, lactobionic acid also has been found to brighten the skin with time. In the same study, it was noted that the melanin index was significantly reduced with lactobionic acid use. However, the researchers noted this finding would need further investigation.
i. Rodan + Fields REVERSE Regimen for Brown Spots, Dullness, and Discoloration
In other products, there are some really great ingredients against hyperpigmentation (i.e., brown spots, dullness, and discoloration). I consider these to be “top tier”:
Hydroquinone in concentrations of 2-4% (for light skin tones only)
Retinol in concentrations of 0.5 or higher OR glycolic acid at 15% or higher
Vitamin C as L-ascorbic acid in concentrations of 15% or higher, especially when complemented by vitamin E
Lumixyl (peptide) at 2-4%
Niacinamide at 4-5%
Then there are ingredients that are ‘just OK’ at treating hyperpigmentation. I wouldn’t use these alone, but would use these to enhance the action of the superstars listed above:
- Kojic acid
- Azelaic acid
- Resorcinol (not to be used with hydroquinone)
- Salicylic acid
There are not a lot of the “Tier 1” superstars against hyperpigmentation in the REVERSE line, nor are these ingredients in the concentrations needed to get rid of pesky age spots and discoloration.
ii. Rodan + Fields UNBLEMISH Acne Benzoyl Peroxide Treatment
Difference between premium medical grade skin care vs cheap OTC products
This article on Radianceskintherapy.com explains why premium medical grade skin care products like Rodan & Fields , Arbonne etc, are more expansive and why their results are far more superior than cheap OTC alternatives:
Medical grade skincare products have the highest concentrations of active ingredients. This is why they are higher priced then OTC. For example, when you buy a salicylic product that is designed for acne-prone skin, the most active ingredient in that product will be the salicylic acid and not a bunch of fillers. When you buy OTC, it may have a very small percentage of the ingredient that will help your skin and the other 90% is filler and water.
So you may think you are getting a steal when you buy a $13 Clean & Clear acne cream, but really, you are basically paying $13 for water. That’s some pricey water!! I would personally rather spend more money on a product that will actually work on my skin and give me the best outcome!
Unlike OTC products that are only approved to treat the most surface layer of the skin, medical grade products are able to reach deeper layers of the skin because they are designed and formulated by doctors and scientists. I don’t know about you, but if I were struggling with acne, aging skin, rosacea, melasma, or what have you, I would rather be spending money on products that will treat my skin concern on the deepest level.
If you buy your skincare products from Sephora, you may be getting decent products, but the efficacy of the products and the way the ingredients work with the pH of your skin may not be known by the sales associate. Dealing with an experienced dermatologist or even a Rodan&Fields consultant might be a better option.
However, the problem with buying Rodan & Fields, Arbonne, Mary Kay, etc is that if you buy your skincare products from a direct sales consultant like Rodan & Fields, Arbonne, Mary Kay, etc, you also may be getting products that will do something to your skin, but the simple fact that a lot of times these people selling the products did NOT go to school for skin, they do NOT know how the ingredients of the products will react with each specific skin type or pH, and they also do not know how the ingredients will react with your skin because, usually, their main profession is not in skincare/aesthetician.
If you are looking to get rid of wrinkles, dark circles and fine lines, we recommend Instant Wrinkle Reducer as a really good, yet affordable alternative to &F Redefine and Reverse regimens.
While, Redefine and Reverse kits may cost around $250 for 60 days supply. Instant Wrinkle Reducer costs only $60 for 1 month supply, and comes with ingredients like argireline peptide and Hyaluronic Acid. And you get discounts if you order a 3 month or 6 months supply.
Argireline is the key ingredient in Instant Wrinkle Reducer and is a naturally occurring substance derived from peptides.
Compared by many in the medical profession to Botox®, Argireline works in a similar fashion, without the needles, or expensive doctor’s office visits.
Argireline has been proven to revive skin, minimize the appearance of fine lines, dark eye circles and baggy skin.
Hyaluronic Acid, another naturally occurring substance, works to enhance the effects of Instant Wrinkle Reducer’s star ingredient, Argirleine.
A powerful agent in its’ own right, Hyaluronic Acid reduces – even eradicates – fine lines and wrinkles while it naturally plumps up and moisturizes your skin
Adding Hyaluronic Acid topically plumps and hydrates your skin, making skin softer and increasing elasticity as it helps restore collagen and elastin fibers.
This expert review on Beautypedia.com explains that even though the Rodan & Fields Redefine MultiFuntional eye cream formula includes several antioxidants to help improve the appearance of wrinkles, but once the jar is opened and the ingredients get in contact with air which gets trapped inside the jar, these ingredients begin to breakdown.
Ultimately, that’s wasting the anti-aging power you’re paying good money for, and that’s a shame, considering this fragrance-free eye cream contains skin-replenishing ingredients and a handful of peptides that can reduce signs of aging.
All plant extracts, almost all vitamins, antioxidants, and other state-of-the-art ingredients begin to break down in the presence of air. Therefore, once a jar is opened and lets the air in, these important ingredients begin to deteriorate, becoming less and less effective.
Routine exposure to daylight can also be problematic for maintaining ingredient stability.
Fragrance-free cream works well to hydrate the eye area.
- Jar packaging allows the anti-aging ingredients to begin breaking down from the first use.
- Not likely to help dramatically with dark circles and undereye puffiness as claimed.
This article on Truthinaging.com written by expert Marta does not recommend dermarolling as a safe and effective methodology for better looking skin and thus does not recommend Rodan & Fields Amp MD.
Apart from that, she also says that the serum that comes with this dermaroller contains two silicones, which can be toxic to the skin. Although she praises inclusion of Myristoyl pentapeptide-8, a collagen boosting peptide in the serum.
“Now, if I was to submit to dermarolling, I’d want to follow up with a really good serum and I certainly wouldn’t want anything nasty in it that that my punctured skin would be receptive to. The serum that Rodan + Fields sells with Anti-Age Amp MD kit has as its very first ingredient one that may cause mild skin irritation, cyclopentasiloxane, a silicone. Generally, silicone molecules are too large to enter the surface of the skin and, as is the case with cyclopentasiloxane (in vitro tests show that less than 2% penetrates the skin). But what of skin that has been subjected to Amp MD? Unfortunately, silicone, when it enters the body, can be toxic, according to the Journal of Toxicology and other sources.
The second ingredient is another silicone. Cosmetic Ingredient review (CIR) Expert Panel reviewed the data surrounding dimethicone, and assessed it as safe to use in personal care products. They determined that because of the large molecular weight of silicone based polymers such as dimethicone, it would be very unlikely for it to penetrate past the surface of the skin. Unfortunately, we don’t know if that assessment would apply to dermarolled skin.”
REDEFINE Daily Cleansing Mask is an amazing non-foaming cleansing mask with gentle small polishing granules. I gently massage it into the skin and then allow it to dry. Not only does it clean the skin without stripping, but it also effortlessly removes dead skin, and it draws out impurities from clogged pores. Skin is left scrumptiously soft, supple and clean. This is a truly extraordinary product, and I will need a replacement tube soon!
Directions: Wet fingertips and massage a quarter-sized amount of product onto dry skin. Cover the entire face with a thin coat of product, avoiding contact with eyes. Allow product to dry, approximately two minutes. Rinse thoroughly with water and pat dry. Use morning and evening and follow with toner.
REDEFINE Pore Minimizing Toner is a very gentle non-stripping toner that leaves skin feeling balanced, hydrated, soft and supple. It is so gentle that I have used it mid day, in lieu of a cleansing water, to remove sweat and dirt after a long day of physical exertion.
After cleansing, apply evenly to entire face and neck with a fresh gauze pad, avoiding the eye area. Do not rinse off. Allow to dry. Use morning and evening.
REDEFINE Triple Defense Treatment Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is a lightweight fast absorbing daily moisturizer that has a fresh delicate scent that dissipates quickly upon application. The sunscreen leaves behind no white cast that interferes with makeup, and it offers highly effective sun protection.
Directions: Apply a dime-sized amount over entire face and neck every morning. Avoid eye area.
REDEFINE Overnight Restorative Cream is a highly moisturizing night cream that has a thin consistency, but make no mistake about it– this is one seriously nourishing and hydrating nighttime treatment cream. I require only the smallest amount to achieve amazing results for my combination skin. I apply it to freshly cleaned slightly damp skin, and it sinks in effortlessly leaving my skin soft, hydrated, supple and balanced. I also note a distinctive and enviable luminescence to my skin that I normally only achieve with beauty oils!
Directions: Every evening, after cleansing and toning, apply a dime-sized amount evenly over the entire face, avoiding eye area.
REDEFINE ACUTE CARE Skincare for Expression Lines is a remarkably effective adhesive patch system that, “smooths expression lines with proprietary Liquid Cone Technology that melts line-defying peptides and hyaluronic acid directly into the wrinkle for a more youthful appearance. You can experience long-lasting results after ten applications, and you may even see results after the very first use. It’s so simple, you can do it in your sleep.”
The ACUTE CARE REDEFINE Eye Cloths can be applied to anywhere you have expression lines that you want to treat. They can be used around the eyes or the mouth, and lines are visibly diminished, and skin has a smoother texture and appearance. I have tried them during the daytime and nighttime, and the results are excellent both ways. I will say, however, the first time that I used them I was surprised to learn that there was a slightly prickly sensation as I pressed the pads into place. That sensation quickly subsided and there was no discomfort– only an interesting sensation. (Retail $220.00 for 10 pairs).
ACUTE CARE Skincare for Expression Lines Ingredients: Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, SH-Oligopeptide-1
This article on Prevention.com describes why the Rodan&Fields products are getting increasingly popular and also comments on whether these products really deserve the hype they are getting:-
i. Rachel Nazarian, MD, a New York City dermatologist with Schweiger Dermatology, says the ingredients are indeed solid, but, for the most part, they’re hardly unique to the brand. Joshua Zeichner, MD, director of cosmetic and clinical research in dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, agrees. While R+F claims to have “the unique ability to combine OTC pharmaceutical and active cosmetic ingredients in just the right combination,” in reality, their products contain ingredients very similar to those of many other products on the market, says Zeichner.
ii. R+F does have a few offerings that stray from the usual list of ingredients, which Schueller finds intriguing. “That’s not to say that it’s clearly a better choice, but these are some interesting formulation approaches, and ones that you don’t see in common, less expensive lines,” says Schueller.
iii. Products grouping – While you can buy the products à la carte, they’ve bundled them into nicely edited-down, streamlined systems—such as Redefine, Unblemish, Reverse, and Soothe—so it’s easy to pick one regimen and get everything you need rather than trying to mix and match from various brands, says Zeichner.
This post by Jennifer, an Esthetician with 15 years experience compares Rodan and Fields with other brands. Here are the final ratings according to her:-
Rodan and Fields : D+
Arbonne : B-
Avon : B-
Jeunesse : B+
Mary Kay : D+
Nerium : F
Younique SkinCare : C
She comments on Rodan and Fields:- I was never a big fan of Proactive even in its inception. Most of my clients who used it saw a temporary reduction in acne issues that eventually returned later, sometimes worse. Most of the ingredients in Proactive can be found sold in better refined versions in doctors’ offices for nearly the same price so spend your acne dollars better and consult a professional. In regards to their anti-aging line, it’s fairly decent but incredibly expensive. The product quality is fair but is not highly effective and certainly not worth the expense. The majority of my clients who have tried this line ended up only using it for awhile, finding it not very effective and yet very pricey.
Comments on Arbonne:- Arbonne is not the worst product in the world to use on your skin. If you are someone who has traditionally used products from Target and Walgreens, you will likely notice an improvement in your skin while using Arbonne. Quite frankly, I absolutely LOVE their body scrub, Awaken Sea Salt Scrub. But the main RE9 skincare product is VERY expensive ($323 for the starter set) and quite frankly I can supply you with more-effective, pharmaceutical grade products for the same price, probably even less
Avon:- . I do like the way “Skin So Soft” keeps the bugs away, I’d take it over Off any day. I’m someone who only uses essential oil based perfumes so I find their scents to smell very chemically to me. But if you take the snob out of me I do find that once again I would choose this line over products at Walgreens or Walmart pretty much any day. Their price point is hard to beat as well, I can’t come close to beating their prices.
Jeunesse:– I find the products to be effective. There is NOTHING on the market like Instantly Ageless, it’s application is tricky to master but once you do, it’s pretty amazing. I’m also quite fond of their Luminesce Cellular Serum, it’s a quality stem cell product that can help many skin types. If they created better avenues to sell the product I would stick with the organization.
Mary Kay:- I hate to say bad things about a company that does good things but this is my brutal assessment! The TimeWise line has the types of ingredients that should create aging benefits but unfortunately I don’t see it in the results. I think perhaps they aren’t as potent as some of it’s competitors, regardless, I can’t get excited about a product that seems not to work. Sorry Mary Kay fans!!
Nerium:- To me, it doesn’t seem like a great idea to put a poisonous flower on your skin every day. But after great reassurances from the rep that it was safe, I tried it myself, giving it the 30 day test on my own skin. I saw virtually no change in tightness, pigment or anything else. I did see an ever so slight reduction in hormonal acne but nothing else. Even on the auto ship program, it’s $80 per month which is ridiculously expensive for the result. I know this is one your neighbor has been begging you to try but I would take a pass.
SOOTHE Sensitive Skin Treatment
ii. ShiKai Borage Dry Skin Therapy 24-Hour Repair Cream
This drugstore product has a similar emollient texture to La Mer’s Eye Balm Intense, but without the irritating ingredients found in La Mer’s product.
iii. Olay Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System
Olay’s “battery-powered cleansing brush with soft synthetic bristles works well to give skin an extra level of cleansing.” The Olay brush claims to clean skin six times better than the now archaic hand-to-face wash.
iv. Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum
Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum, which has amino-peptides and a B3 complex that penetrate deep into the skin to hydrate skin, will give you similar wrinkle-reducing results.
v. Boots Botonics Conditioning Clay Mask
A far better choice for an oil-absorbing mask (or a mask that dries on skin which you then rinse) is Boots Conditioning Clay Mask.
MakeupAlley.com gives an overall rating of 3.6/5 to REVERSE regimen from Rodan and Fields.
av8r – All I had was irritated, dry skin
I used the whole product line for 3 months. One month – no change – second month, glowing skin – Wow! -the third month seriously irritated red skin, with huge acne breakouts. The glow was gone, all I had was irritated, dry skin. I went back to my organic line to no miracles but really soft, smooth skin.
tracyn712 – Expensive kit, not sure I would order again
I went all in on the regimen — Reverse kit, AMP roller, and macro exfoliator. It was pretty expensive but I know friends that benefited from the Proactiv line so I figured this was a good product to invest in. Not all Asians have great skin, but I was lucky to inherit my dad’s side of the family’s genes (my mom’s side has lots of wrinkles). Even so, I am obsessed with skin care and any product that will promise to brighten, lighten, and reduce pore size I am willing to try. Needless to say I have lots of skin care products.
I’m not diligent about washing my face twice a day or using the AMP roller every day or using the macro exfoliator every week–I travel weekly for work and half the time I forget to do it.
With that being said, I am in my 3rd month and see some results, but I’m sure I would see more if I did it more often. The moisturizer makes my skin really oily; I’m hoping if and when I switch to the Redefine moisturizer the oiliness will go away, otherwise it’s back to my tried and true Olay moisturizer.
Considering how expensive the kits are and all the add ons, I’m not sure I would order some of the stuff again. The cooling gels don’t really seem to do much and for the cost, I can get a 4 oz bottle of aloe vera gel for much less. I may order some of the stuff piecemeal depending on how the Redefine kit goes.
mandy412 – I’d say it’s the most radiant my skin has ever looked
I’ve been using the entire REVERSE line for 6 months now. I have pretty good skin but I have some acne scars that have taunted me for years now. Also, I’m pretty good with sunscreen as a mixed race girl BUT I’m bad when I’m on vacation in the desert. So I’m trying to undo any unseen damage so I don’t look like a Brahmin bag when i’m 40. The line is expensive but I definitely see a difference. It’s not overnight but at around the 3 to 4 month mark, I really noticed that the acne scars had faded and even some of my freckles had. My skin looks really good on makeup free days and when I do wear makeup, I swear my skin has this lit from within look. I’d say it’s the most radiant my skin has ever looked. Once this round is done, I will most likely switch to the anti-aging line as I think REVERSE has done it’s work.
I gave it 4 lippies instead of 5 because the skin lightening treatment smells skunky. Whatever scent they use in the sunscreen should be replicated for the skin lightening treatment.
One other note: I have combination skin and the directions say to work up to using it every day, twice per day. I didn’t have any problems with this irritating my skin but I can see where it would be irritating for some. The exfoliating wash twice a day could be brutal for some.
Tara2003 – I love Rodan and Fields
I love Rodan and Fields – only skin care line that hasn’t left me either dried out or too oily. I only use the exfoliating wash every other day – and at night I use the redefine night serum. Love love love. I use a gentle cleaner and then the rest of the redefine line in days I don’t use the exfoliating wash!
Review 1 – R&F Unblemish is expensive and too harsh!
I’m 35 and have experienced acne my lifetime, but have suffered from quite severe adult acne for about 3 years. I tried a lot of stuff, from ProActiv to pills from a doctor. Afterward I was uncertain because of the cost, and learned about Rodan and Fields Unblemish. I determined to do it one day. It was my skin somewhat enhanced, a slow procedure, and I began getting lots of horrible blackheads, which will be something I haven’t had to deal with. It totally quit working into the regimen, and I’m really sad with the results. If you’re going to attempt this, I’d recommend trying to find a sulfur wash (that’s on Amazon), and using benzyl peroxide 5.0%, and a toner from elsewhere. It wasn’t at all worth my cash, and is quite expensive. It was definitely not for me, although I understand some folks have had lots of success with this merchandise. I also have another friend who even got blackheads like I did so, and had the identical encounter.
Review 2 – My skin had irritation after using Redefine
Used Redefine products (and micro-dermabrasion paste) for seven weeks. Eventually could not take it. My skin kept getting worse and worse. I will be 60 tomorrow – have not had acne for over 25 years, and suddenly my face appear bumpy and red – and I definitely felt ANGRY. SOMEthing appeared to be making my skin sensitive! I haven’t looked this bad since I was a teen! Quit using it now. Went back to my regimen of $10 face cream (alpha-hydroxy nighttime replenishing lotion) and neutragena cleanser and toner and already my face FEELS less irritated and seems SO much better. It is clearly causing some sort of bad reaction with my skin although I do not understand what’s in these products. For this much cash, I was hoping for miracles, I guess. But I certainly was not anticipating skin that was seriously worse than when I began!
Review 3 – Only recommend it if you have cash
WOULD I RECOMMEND R&F ANTI-AGE? Yes, with one extremely important caveat, if you’ve got the cash to spend. I adore the merchandise. I adore the line. I adore the fact that two women are supplying opportunity for other women to generate income. BUT, and that is as I said at the beginning it is expensive. It is 193.00 for a 60-day supply or around 1200.00 a year. Definitely it’s more affordable than plastic surgery (and there are people who say that is just as great) I believe that is rough for some families on a budget, particularly in the present economic scenario.
Review 4 – Rodan & Fields SOOTHE is superb!
Rosacea Sucks & An (OUTSTANDING) Review Of Rodan Fields SOOTHE
I have consistently had a complexion that is more reddish, but this was way more reddish and more bumpy than anything I ‘d ever experienced. Additionally, the lumps were not like acne lumps, they were more. Nothing helped, although I attempted removing several things from my diet, believing it was possibly an allergy. I was perplexed and disappointed cause I ‘d no notion what to do about it and it actually happened. The only skincare product that gave me relief was Rodan & Fields SOOTHE.
Review 5 – REVERSE is good but I don’t like the way it is sold!
I ‘ve a problem with the way this merchandise is sold. I have been using the REVERSE application for three months. I do enjoy the fragrance and my sun spots have been reduced by it. It includes some Retinol and Vit C that’s assumed to be used jointly in pearl-sized quantities. They never come out identical, which becomes a quandary when reordering. Uneasy pressure is provided by buying through a buddy, especially if one wants to discontinue buying it or if you will find issues. The price is prohibitive, since if used correctly monthly the merchandise must be used. It takes a lengthy time to get credit for a returned merchandise (I attempted the Redefine and it was overly irritating) plus they look to make errors on the orders and it is extremely difficult to get that rectified. I might contemplate using it… if the product were available locally and simpler to return if a trouble…. and pricey I will look for other options and just cancelled my membership.
Review 6 – I have had pretty impressive results.
I’ve read through all the comments left regarding Rodan and Fields Skincare. I’d love to give additional information to anyone curious, I began in April with the merchandises and have had astounding results! The product lines were developed to fulfill individual needs based on your specific skin concerns. Yes the first price is an around $200.00, but after that you just replenish the individual things as needed. If you become a preferred customer in addition, you get 10% off the price of products for life and any order over $80.00 you get free shipping. And you consistently get 60-day empty jar money-back guarantee no questions asked. So you’ve got nothing to lose by trying it. I have had pretty impressive results.
Review 7 – they’re not worth the expensive cost
For me, they’re not worth the expensive cost, although I enjoy these items. I have which is as if they’ve been in some cult. Because I am attempting to leave the club now that I’m attempting to escape the automatic shipment price, they’ve been all upset with me! Allegedly it is possible to cancel your routine auto ship plan by logging in and going to the web site, but you might be compelled to purchase at least $80 worth of merchandise. Therefore I end up having to contact my sales person to delete the subscription, and she’s told my buddies that I’m roaming from the course!!
Review 8 – R&F Soothe worked for my son’s eczema
I purchased the soothe clothing because my 2 year old son has had a terrible eczema flare up for months. Nothing was working. It was sad , and so I purchased it the soothe lotion helps with eczema. I’ve seen a massive difference in his skin and already been using it for 2 days. In addition , I use the kit on myself. I do so I’m not seeing much difference and don’t have sensitive skin, but I could feel it. My skin is softer. My children come first, although makes me really excited to get the kit I want, which would be redefine. Definitely worth trying.
Review 9 – REVERSE Regimen is making a significant difference to my face!
I recently used the REVERSE Regimen for sun damage and I’m seeing a significant difference! My skin is much smoother, brighter, and my marks that were dark were starting to disappear! If you’ve got sun damage I highly recommend this regimen. Additionally , I wanted to say, that someone said before that they believed a buddy of their was only attempting to generate income from them. Nevertheless, for one to bash an item and the advisors that sell it seems to me like you’re either a representative that couldn’t make in the company or a consultant for another skincare line. Still the flush-blush response of a hypersensitive complexion with SOOTHE.
Review 10 – My skin got used to the R&F exfoliator
Well, like a lot of things in our lives… the first time was bad when I tried the R&F exfoliator. I had a difficult time like the video revealed getting my face in the right place and before I could get a quarter of the region completed the darn machine would beep to go forward. Fortunately, it is simple to move through the application again and complete sections that are missed. I learned fast, and I was a professional! For the first use. It’s designed to be used for multiple treatments and felt considerably better on my skin although the exfoliator point is incredibly difficult. A cooling gel is supplied to soothe the skin. I definitely wanted initially to it. The third use, my skin accustomed to the exfoliation and I totally forgot to use the gel that was soothing. Most of the places were not difficult once I had my face in the right place. The nose proved the most challenging so I ‘d lose suction regularly because it clearly is not a level place.
These user reviews are taken from across the various internet forums and review websites to gauge how people think about Rodan and Fields compared to other skincare brands:-
Anne Smith – I prefer Arbonne over other brands
I think there are many good products out there, you just have to go through trial and error to find the one that works for you. I was a Mary Kay consultant for over 5 years and I just recently joined Arbonne. I origninally began using their nutrition products because I have numerous food allergies.
Completed their 30 days to Healthy Living and I am feeling good (and lost some weight). Then decided to try Arbonne’s skin care/make up line. I will say that it took about a week for my face to adjust to the Arbonne line after using MK for 5 years, but I am very pleased with the results. Loving their makeup line also. As others have stated about Arbonne, their products are gluten free, vegan, non GMO, no high fructose corn syrup, standardized plant extracts, kosher certified, no trans fat, and low glycemic index which is very important to me due to my allergies, and their make up and skin care line uses botanical ingredients. Also wanted to be part of a company that was working towards a greener footprint.
Another perk that I liked about Arbonne versus MK, is that they give customers opportunities to save money. For $20 you can become a preferred customer and you get 20% off all purchases for a year, can get discounts on other products, and earn free shipping. And I don’t have to buy a bunch of inventory. Customers just purchase what they want online. So much easier.
Shannon D – I prefer Rodan+Fields over other brands
After being a consultant for Mary Kay, Beauti Control and now Rodan + Fields, I can tell you there is definitely a difference in the products. I started with Mary Kay because I needed some face wash and moisturizer and because I have extremely sensitive eyes and their mascara was the only kind I could use without getting styes or dry eyelids. Then, as I got a little older I needed to add eye cream.
The eye cream seemed to work okay. It went on smooth, but I didn’t notice any changes. My friend told me to try Beauti Control…..so I did. Their products were very comparable to Mary Kay, but the eye cream seemed to work a little better for me….until it didn’t. I had to start wearing concealer under my eyes, and I looked older than my age.
Another friend had recently become a Rodan+Fields consultant and told me their eye cream could actually help my skin appear to age backwards. I’m not going to lie and say I believed her because I didn’t; however, she did say I had 60 days to try it, and I could return it if it didn’t work for me. I’ve been using it for over a year now along with their Unblemish and Reverse regimens. The difference is simple. Rodan + Fields believe in their products enough to offer a money back guarantee if the products don’t do exactly what they say they will do. I will never go back because I no longer have to wear any foundation or concealer at all, and I look at least 5 years younger than when I started a year ago!! Brooke Gerritsen Bowen – Switched to Arbonne from Mary Kay
I used to use Mary Kay religiously and loved it and so I sold it – 23 years ago. But over time, they changed their formulas and the newer stuff really irritated my skin, so I stopped using it. I was introduced to Arbonne and LOVE it! I’ve now used it for years and get a lot of comments on how young I look for my age. I recently started buying my daughter Mary Kay for oily skin with the acne care and it really has helped clear up her skin. I think it’s a person to person thing, you just have to see what works best for your own skin.
Sara L. – I am surprised how much I like rodan and fields REDEFINE regimen
I tried this as a favor to a friend who was selling it and am surprised how much I like it. I have very sensitive, reactive skin. Everything makes it red and itchy. I’ve tried so many other brands, neutrogena, Aveeno, cetaphil, ceraVe, even other pricier brands like origins, murad, la Roche posay and dermalogica, but all of them left my face feeling tight, and often red or burning. This product makes my skin feel really good and soft. I feel like I’ve just had an awesome facial after I use it. My husband even noticed how soft it was! The night cream feels so smooth and luxurious- I absolutely love it.
As far as anti-aging, eh I guess it’s average. I’ve never found that any of them actually work as well as drinking enough water, getting enough sleep, and staying out of the sun. I think their promises of wrinkle reduction are a little exaggerated. I haven’t noticed any reduction in my laugh lines. It is expensive too, which is why I am only giving 4 stars.
Dayle Cessna – I do love the Lash Boost from Rodan and Fields.
I have used Mary Kay in the past along with a number of professional and OTC products. My skin is pretty picky so I was never able to stick with anything fit very long. A couple of years ago I discovered Hylunia and have been able to continue using it with no problems. I get it from my esthetician but I believe you can buy it online. It is vegan and cruelty free. I do love the Lash Boost from Rodan and Fields.
Katy Richards – I’ve used R+F exclusively for nearly two years now and I don’t ever see myself going back!
I, too, had been on a hunt for a good, easy-to-follow and not time consuming skin care routine that actually worked, but never really found anything that gave me results until I found Rodan+Fields. I noticed significant changes in my skin within the first few weeks and it’s just gotten better from there! I’ve used R+F exclusively for nearly two years now and I don’t ever see myself going back! If you have other questions about our products, I’d be happy to point you in the right direction!
Tris W – Norwex has amazing skin care products
I’ve used Arbonne for a couple of years on and off and like it but don’t love it. The newly reformulated RE9 is a lot more gentle on my skin – I couldn’t use the old version. I’m really interested in trying the Young Living ART system if anyone has info on that? BUT believe it or not, Norwex has amazing skin care products. They don’t have a full line, just a serum, eye cream, day & night cream and it is super moisturizing and smells heavenly! It’s also pretty afordable considering the others listed. FYI
Cori Caroll – R&F is the #1 skincare brand across all price points in the US and Canada
I’ve tried all sorts of products from organic to not. They made my skin soft, but that was about it. About a year ago I was introduced to Rodan and Fields, and I saw results quickly. My sensitive skin got less sensitive with Soothe and my dark circles and puffy eyes faded. After about 6 months, I jumped in and became a consultant. Never thought I would, but it just seemed like a no brainer. Now I am loving sharing these products, that actually work, with others. My skin is no longer red and irritated thanks to Soothe, and now I’m using the Redefine Regimen, which tightens, shrinks pores, and diminishes fine lines and wrinkles. Our two newest products are just amazing! Lash Boost will grow your lashes longer, thicker and darker in just 4-8 weeks. While our Active Hydration Serum adds moisture back to your skin, plumps your skin taking away fine lines, and leaves it looking amazing after your first use!
This is dermatologist created skincare. We do not sell make up (I use Arbonne for that). We are the #1 skincare brand across all price points in the US and Canada. But most importantly, this brand works!
J-Bales: Arbonne good for sensitive skin
I tried Rodan+Fields and it didn’t do a ding dong thing and it made my skin burn. I did try Mary Kay and had more breakouts. I do like Arbonne. I have such sensitive skin and Arbonne is the only skin care line that I have had success with and have continued to purchase.
Jenna – You’re not going to find a better skincare line than Rodan and Fields
I’ve used the Unblemish line from R+F for almost 2 years now and just started using this Redefine regimen 2 weeks ago. Let me just tell you, I LOVE it! My face is so smooth and amazing. I can literally see my acne scars fading right before my eyes. I wish I had a before and after picture as proof. I will post one in about 30 days if I remember…
Yes, it is on the pricey side, but you’re not going to find a better skincare line out there. You get what you pay for and in my opinion it’s worth it! It last for almost 3 months and you can try it for 60 days and if you don’t like it, you can send it back and get your money back. You can’t do that with store brand skincare.
Love the product, no complaints (other than a bit pricey) and would recommend to anyone who is wanting firmer, healthier looking skin.
Emily – Arbonne is better than R&F
I personally have tried both rodan and fields and Arbonne. I saw results from both, however my results from Arbonne have not disappeared and have only continued to get better! That is why I continued to use Arbonne skincare. I am now an Arbonne consultant.
The reason I chose to be an Arbonne consultant out all of the companies out there is
1) because these are my favorite products favorite products
2) they do NOT contain the parabens in the products which have now been linked to breast cancer
3) it does NOT contain harsh chemicals. They are all botanical based products. However, even plants have chemicals… they are simply natural chemicals and are not man made so they are pure and safe. Be careful when a company say something they have no chemicals because even plants have chemicals…. it’s a common misconception 🙂 huge plus that Arbonne uses plants and avoids fillers
4) the compensation plan is amazing. You have multiple ways to make money and move up on ranks and position in this company. Consultant, district manager, area manager, executive Vice President, national Vice President! Lots of room for growth in this company. Not to mention you have team that helps you through it and provides advice and support and training as you need it!
5) I get to travel!!!!! For example, I am going to Las Vegas through Arbonne in April!
6) they have a wider range of products that appeal to a larger clientel because the also have nutrition…. which sets Arbonne apart. It’s actually how I was first introduced to Arbonne and saw amazing results through the day to Healthy Living and Beyond program… while also having a great skincare and make up line!
7) the start up cost is cheap! Like $78 I think? For me… it was an easy choice but it’s all about preference. The end goal for each company should be the same. Help other people, give yourself some stress relief and free time to live life and work from home if desired, and earn some money in the process while doing something fun!!!!
Alescia Brown – I really love my Rodan + Fields Anti Age Daily Cleansing Mask
I really love my Rodan + Fields Anti Age Daily Cleansing Mask. I use it twice a day and my skin has never been this clean. It is a Kaolin mask that really pulls out all the impuirties in my skin.
Carol Weston – Arbonne products are the absolute BEST!
Arbonne products are the absolute BEST! The anti-aging skin care line (RE-9) is wonderful! Every single product from Arbonne is pure, safe and beneficial, formulated without any synthetic, artificial ingredients or harmful chemicals. Thank you, Arbonne!

This article on Monicasbeauty explains that many reviews for Rodan and Fields products were positive overall, though not necessarily stellar, especially considering the high-end price tag.
The skin-lightening products containing hydroquinone seemed to perform well, and consumers liked the fragrance-free options. Other than that though, there were no “miracle cures” to aging or skin problems that appeared.
In fact, many of the products drew strong comparisons to the less-expensive line of Proactiv products, which made some consumers feel as if they were simply sold lesser items at a higher price-point in different packaging. So, product-performance-wise, the skincare line was found to be average.
- Developed by highly-schooled dermatologists known for Proactiv
- Fragrance-free options
- Wide product line that can be tailored to specific skin care needs/concerns
- Certain products, such as the skin-lighteners, do seem to produce results
- High price point
- Some product ingredients have been known to cause irritation
- Many consumer reviews were neutral on the effectiveness of the products
